COUNCIL ON AGING BOARD MEETING

JANUARY 17, 2006

Present:  Elliot Feldman, Arnold Kublin, Hy Lamb, Rob Maidman, Marilyn Stewart,

Millie Berman, Mindy Kempner, Norma Simons Fitzgerald.  Guest:  Robert Young, Sharon Housing Authority

Absent:  Ellen Bender, Faye Berzon, Sheila Pallay, Lil Savage, Irene Carpenter

The meeting was called to order at Temple Sinai by chairman Arnold Kublin at 3:00 p.m.  The minutes of the December 20, 2005, meeting were approved

Old Business:

Community Center/Town Election – Rob reported on the activities of the FCC.

Housing Update – discussion – Robert Young, member of the Sharon Housing Partnership and elected member of the Sharon Housing Authority gave us a report on what is going on with housing issues in Sharon.  He showed us copy of letter being written to Rep. Kafka and other officials regarding these issues. 

New Business:

Executive Director’s report distributed.  Norma reported that she is working on parking for men’s and women’s clubs if and when the Community Center is undergoing construction.    Marilyn reported that she and Sheila met with Norma to discuss the revolving fund.  It was felt at this time that it was better to leave things as they are.  It is very beneficial to the COA to have the involvement with the Friends.

Elliot asked about collecting cell phones.

The next COA Board meeting will be Tuesday, February 14, 2005, 3:00 p.m.., at Temple Sinai.
