ASSESSORS MEETING MINUTES

OCTOBER 21, 2004

 

 

7:00 P.M.   Called meeting to order.  Present:  Paula Keefe, Ellen Abelson, Richard

                   Gorden and Mark Mazur.

 

  1. The Board read a decision from the Appellate Tax Board granting our motion to have the FY2004 2 Commercial Street case dismissed.
  2. The Board took the following actions on the following fiscal year 2006 application for classification under M.G.L. Chapter 61A.

  1. The Board reviewed the notice of a by-law change which raises the job

classification rating for the Senior Assessors’ Clerk position.

  1. The Board signed warrants for the fiscal year 2005 County Tax Assessment.
  2. The Board denied a fiscal year 2005 application for a clause 22 veterans

exemption for the owner of parcel #085044000.

  1. The Board approved minutes to our 9/30/04 meeting.
  2. The Board reviewed a preliminary version of our fiscal year 2005 Tax Rate

Recapitulation Form.  The Board considered making changes to some of the

estimated receipts and the overlay reserve.  They directed the Administrative Assessor to provide a further explanation for several of the figures.  The Board will try to finalize the figures within the Recapitulation Form prior to the classification hearing.

  1. The Board reviewed a comparison of average assessments and taxes in Sharon in

recent years.

  1. The Board reviewed a comparison of Sharon’s tax rate and assessments with the

surrounding communities.  Copies of it will be given to the Board of Selectmen.

  1. The Board directed the Administrative Assessor to write a letter to the Treasurer/

Collector requesting a cost/benefit analysis of quarterly billing.
