The minutes were approved with some minor spelling and punctuation corrections.
The ticket fund has $716.57 – this is the balance after the $250 scholarship was awarded.
Jeff sent a letter to Bill Fowler and copied Ben Puritz requesting the balance of the ticket fund each month prior to the meeting. Ben followed up with Bill and asked him to make sure Jeff had that information. Cindy Doherty sent Jeff and e-mail saying that she will send him the total every month from now on.
New Business:
Bob Sondheim reported that he had two runners for the July 4th race. In order to gain access to the fundraising website, there is a $200 entry fee.
A motion was made to approve the use of budget monies to pay for an annual membership to the fundraising website. This motion was approved.
So far, there have not been any requests for donations at this time but we will continue to pursue the fundraising effort so there are funds available for future requests.
The town of Sharon has a website with a section for the Commission. We can post the monthly meeting agenda and minutes under this section. However, the town clerk still requires three hard copies of the agenda delivered to the Town Hall.
Jeff stated that he has not been receiving any correspondence from the Mass Commission on Disabilities or other organizations that Sid had been hearing from even though Sid sent e-mails introducing Jeff as the new Chairman. He will investigate this further.
A suggestion was made to advertise the fundraising effort in the Sharon Advocate, the Sharon Patch and the View.
A question was raised asking if we have a PO Box where any donations or correspondence in relation to the fundraising efforts can be addressed.
Sharon Council on Aging honored Sid at their annual volunteer breakfast. Shirley mentioned some of the ideas the commission were exploring to honor Sid’s memory. She asked Ellie what she thought would a good way to honor Sid. Ellie is going to think about it at get back to the commission.
