7:40         The EcoDev committee met with a number of property owners in PO Square, and reviewed the findings and recommendations from the two studies we conducted on business potential and on wastewater management.

The key topic of concern was wastewater, with parking coming in close second.

We reviewed the preliminary findings on traffic from Tom Houston which focus on the challenge at the intersection of Pond Street and Billings. We reviewed the concept of shared public and private parking and the insights from the studies that at present PO Square has about a 65% of parking utilization when considering all parking in the Square as being “available.” Current use patterns, of course, do not reflect this usage pattern since private lots are not available to the general public.

We updated them on the proposed redrafting of the PO Square zoning regulations with the input from the business studies and review of the current zoning. The goal of the redrafting is 1). To clarify the existing zoning 2). Update some pieces of the zoning to reflect current practice and 3). Incorporate changes to the zoning that will encourage a more clustered, business friendly, consumer oriented, walkable square.

Barbara Nadler and Pat Pannone discussed their thoughts and ideas on how to reinvigorate the library.
