Presentation from Barbara Nadler
Review schedule of upcoming presentations to other Boards.
Roni updated the team on the $5,000 left over from the grant; we have reapplied to State to allow us to reallocate the money. The State’s meeting is scheduled for June.
Kathy McCabe had also been hired to do a Permitting Guide – this was not delivered unfortunately. We have written a letter indicating that the work needs to be done; if not, we will need to find a new contractor to do the work. Follow up with Peter O’Cain possibly to see if a Permitting Guide had been done about 5 years ago and if it exists.
Rob Maidman – Spoke with Marty Spagat on Sharon Mart cleanup. On Monday they arranged a meeting with landlord lawyer to clean up property. The parking still needs to be cleared up and reallocated or decided.
Suzi Peck – At an environmental film festival; one of the movies was on reclaiming intersections; get neighbors or businesses to design street art for the intersection; so the whole intersection gets painted on the road; and repainted every year; and creates a sense of place; so in addition to being a central place, it creates some community energy.
Lead on getting the Owners involved and engaged. Roni Thaler will work on that.
Barbara Nadler presented some of her ideas on how we might grow the Library; and things that are needed. The Library needs more space; one scenario is to expand against the current building over Verizon and next door as blue-sky thinking. Question – what is opinion of the library trustees?
The EcoDev team expressed strong interest and support in the Library remaining in the Town center – and that its presence in the Town center is integral to PO Square. Ben Puritz suggested that we run the concept for this library expansion with Land Strategies and see their opinions on constraints and ideas on how to make this work. Rob Maidman suggested that the refurbishment of the Library could be the pull for new businesses to start to perk up and engage and create energy for the Square.
Thelma signed up for finding funding for signs and landscaping.
Suzi indicates that the BoH wants to have a better sense of Hunter’s Ridge; and traffic; and maybe the fall is a better time to meet with them.
