Energy Committee Meeting Minutes

October 13, 2010

Sharon Community Center, 7:00 PM

Attendees: Lynn Wolbarst, Dave McCabe, Rosemary Tambouret,

Patricia Bluestein, George Aronson, and Craig Edwards.

(not an official meeting because of posting requirements)

1.  Approved Minutes for the 09/15/10 meeting.

2.  Fair recap was presented.  About 300 or so attended.  Vendors were:

• Happy as they got to concentrate on the individuals who were really interested. 
• Relaxed and reported good sales.
• The great publicity helped but the competition for attendance with other town events certainly held down the total numbers.
• A Regional Meeting with Easton, Westwood and Sharon was held.  Easton is a Certified Green Community and Westwood is starting the process.

3.  DLTA

4.  Article 2 of the upcoming town meeting was discussed.  That being the Energy   Committee’s recommendation of putting a Solar PV field at the town landfill.  The warrant article discussed changing the zoning from recreational to municipal. 

• Permission for the Selectman to negotiate and enter into a long term lease for that area.
• Special permission to make the contract longer than 10 years to make the opportunity more appealing to prospective vendors.
• Problems were not getting the Selectman carte blanche on the contract and not using the whole site
• We want a responsible bidder as then the town can share the upside potential.

5.  Confirmed that the towns energy contract with TransCanada expires in 2014.
