Finance Committee Meeting

Minutes – February 8, 2010

Town Hall, Lower Level Hearing Room, 7:30 P.M.

 

Members Present:  Brian Fitzgerald, Donald Gilligan (late), Gordon Gladstone, Charles

                               Goodman, Josh Kiernan, Joel Lessard, Ira Miller (Hamilton)

                Absent:   Maria Anderson, Keith Garte, Jonathan Hitter, Laura Nelson, Edward

                               Philips

 

1.      Josh Kiernan was Acting Chair for this meeting.

 

2.      The agenda was the School Committee and their budget.

 

3.      School Committee Members present:  Alison Rutley, Glenn Allen, Linda Callan, Laura Salomons.  Superintendent:  Dr. Barbara Dunham, Asst. Superintendent:  Timothy Farmer.

 

4.      Dr. Barbara Dunham stated that they were using the FY’10 budget to show how the budget was put together, how to read the budget, and how to find items in the budget.

 

5.      There was considerable information and discussion regarding various budget items including enrollment, Special Education and Regular Education costs, salaries, collaborative tuitions, reduction in percentage of Circuit Breaker, and no reduction in state aid.  Information can be obtained from the MUNIS budget.

 

6.      Dr. Dunham stated that if any more information were needed, she would get it for them.

 

7.      The next item on the agenda was to vote the December minutes.

 

8.      A MOTION was made by Joel Lessard and SECONDED by Ira Miller to approve the minutes of December 14, 2009.

 

9.      VOTED:  5-0-2.  For:  Fitzgerald, Gilligan, Goodman, Lessard, Miller.  Abstain:  Gladstone, Kiernan.

 

10.  The next item on the agenda regarded the salary portion of the Annual Report which was satisfactory as presented.  Bill Fowler would be contacted to format the data.

 

11.  The next meeting will be February 22, 2010, Selectmen’s budget.  March 1, School Committee budget.

 

12.  It was MOVED and SECONDED to adjourn.

 

13.  VOTED:  7-0-0.

 

14.  The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
