SHARON STANDING BUILDING COMMITTEE
MINUTES
January 14, 2003
Members Present: David Belton, Deborah Benjamin, Fred Clay, William Croteau, Gordon Gladstone,
Steve Kennedy, Linda Lurie, Brian Pariser, Tim Quirk, Joel Wolk
The meeting was held at the Sharon Community Center. The purpose of the meeting was to hold the annual elections and review the goals and objective of the Committee.
The meeting opened at 7:00pm.
Nominations for the position of Chair were accepted from the floor. Member Belton nominated Joel Wolk as Chairman.
Member Wolk made a statement that he would be accept the nomination and if elected this would be his last term as Chair. It was his goal to see the Cottage Street School completed.
A secret ballot was cast and tallied by the administrative assistant. Joel Wolk was elected as Chair.
Nominations for the position of Vice Chair were accepted from the floor. Member Gladstone nominated Tim Quirk as Vice Chair. Member Kennedy nominated Deborah Benjamin as Vice Chair. Neither nominee made a statement.
A secret ballot was cast and tallied by the administrative assistant. Tim Quirk was elected as Vice Chair.
The members of the committee had a discussion regarding term limits on the officers. Terms of 1 year or not more than 2 consecutive years were discussed. The committee tabled this item for a future meeting so that they would have the opportunity to think this over.
Chairman Wolk stated that he would like to see more members involved in various tasks. Members Gladstone and Belton volunteered to serve as financial advisors and will review invoices and requisitions prior to the presentation for payment.
There was discussions regarding “Charter” of the committee and the involvement with Feasibility Studies. Members Clay, Lurie and Quirk volunteered to meet with the Town Administrator and will report back to the committee after a review of this topic.
A motion was made to release the executive session minutes of October 8, 2002 as public. (Quirk/Belton – 9-0-1 Wolk abstained)
The meeting adjourned at 8:20pm.
