Meeting Minutes

December 22, 2009

Members Present:     Chair Gordon Gladstone, Fred Clay, Joel Wolk, Bill Croteau, Colleen Tuck, Rich Slater, Roger Thibault, Steve Smith, Superintendent of Schools - Dr. Barbara Dunham, Ken Wertz, Allison Rutley, and Principal of the Middle School -  Kevin O’Rourke, Laura Salomons of the School Committee and Ken Wertz, Director of School Department of Maintenance and Operations

Members Not Present:  Rick Rice, Deb Benjamin, Benjamin Puritz, Glenn Allen and Sam Liao

The meeting of the School Building Committee was held at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Community Center.

The meeting of the School Building Committee was called to order at 6:35 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Community Center.

The purpose of this meeting is to organize the committee and to authorize a member to sign MSBA agreements on behalf of the School Building Committee and to elect a Chair and Vice-Chair of the School Building Committee.

Town Counsel has determined that the Project Scope and Budget Agreement (PSBA) with MSBA should be signed by: the Chair of the Sharon School Committee, Chair of the Board of Selectmen and the Chair of the School Building Committee.

Election of Officers

Chairman – Nomination for Gordon Gladstone was made by Joel Wolk.  Mr. Gladstone accepted the nomination.  Gordon Gladstone was unanimously elected as Chairman of the School Building Committee.

Vice-Chair – Nomination for Deb Benjamin was made by Joel Wolk.  Ms. Benjamin was unanimously elected as Vice-Chair of the School Building Committee.

Project Scope and Budget Agreement

VOTED unanimously that the School Building Committee hereby approve the terms of the Project Scope and Budget Agreement by and between the Massachusetts School Building Authority and the Town of Sharon, to be dated upon execution, with regard to the renovations of the Middle School, and hereby authorize the Chairperson or the Vice Chairperson of this Committee to execute said agreement on behalf of the Committee.
