The meeting of the Sharon Standing Building Committee was held at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Community Center.

1.         Administration

 

Approval of Minutes

 

MOTION:  To approve the Sharon Standing Building Committee Meeting Regular Session minutes of May 11, 2010 (Smith/Wolk) - unanimous – Thilbault and Tuck abstained

 

Future Meetings: Tuesdays June 8 and 22, 2010

 

 2.        Sharon Middle School Project Updates

 

Mike McKeon of KBA Architects

 

Mike McKeon presented to the Committee the Project updates which are attached.

 

Mr. McKeon informed the committee that construction will begin on June 1, 2010 and site work to begin on June 26, 2010.

 

The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Sharon Middle School Project will take place on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sharon Middle School.

 

The site utility peer review comments and KBA’s responses were reviewed, with permits in hand to allow the force main work to begin.

 

 

 

 

Todd McCabe of Consigli Construction Co.

 

Todd McCabe furnished to the Committee the Construction Manager’s Report (attached).

 

The Snack Shack structure adjacent to the Middle School athletic fields was discussed by the committee and the following Motion was made:

 

MOTION:  The Standing Building Committee recommends demolition of the existing Snack Shack structure adjacent to the Middle School athletic fields and rental of temporary Concession Trailer 6-1-0 (Clay opposed)

 

Bob White gave the following update:

 

Bob White discussed with the Committee the Sharon Middle School Action List

(attached).

 

The filed subbids were received May 25, 2010 and that they were in aggregate over the budget – that the team would evaluate the results and report back to the SSBC, and that the intention was to arrive at a GMP in a couple weeks.

 

The Bay State Gas Company contract for providing new gas service to facilitate the proposed construction at the Middle School been signed by the Sharon Town Administrator, Benjamin E. Puritz.

 

MOTION: to approve gas service installation fee at the Sharon Middle School to Bay State Gas Company in the amount of $14,495.  (Wolk/Smith)  – unanimous

 

Periodic indoor air quality testing during the school year was discussed. 

 

MOTION:  to recommend that Daedalus Project, Incorporated obtain an Indoor Air Quality consultant not to exceed in total value of $21,300.  (Wolk/Smith)  – unanimous

 

MOTION:  To adjourn the meeting at  8:25 p.m. (Tuck/Smith) unanimous
