           August 31, 2010

 

Members Present:     Chair Gordon Gladstone, Vice-Chair Deb Benjamin, Steve Smith, Joel Wolk, Fred Clay, Rick Rice, Roger Thibault, Rich Slater, Bill Croteau and Glenn Allen

 

Members not Present:  Colleen Tuck

 

Others Present:          David Morais - KBA Architects

                                    Joe Sullivan - Daedalus Projects Inc.

Mike Dupuis - Consigli Construction Co.

Ken Wertz, Director of School Dept. of Maintenance and Operations

 

The meeting of the Sharon Standing Building Committee was called to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Community Center. 

 

1.         Administration

 

Approval of Minutes

MOTION:  To approve the Sharon Standing Building Committee Meeting Regular Session minutes of August 17, 2010 (Wolk/Smith) – unanimous – Slater abstained

 

Future Meetings: Tuesdays September 14 – 28, 2010 at the Community Center Conference Room

 

2.         Sharon Middle School Project Updates

 

Michael Dupuis of Consigli Construction Co.

 

Mike Dupuis gave the following update (documents attached) of the Construction Manager’s Report:

 

·        Early Release Packages

·        Subcontract-Short term plan

·        Status of Buyout

·        GMP Summary

·        Schedule (4 Week Look Ahead attached)

 

The Chair Gladstone commented that the signage needs improvement before opening day of school – September 1, 2010.  Mr. Dupuis will see to it that signage is ready for opening day.

 

 

 

 

David Morais of Kaestle Boos Associates

 

David Morais updated the SSBC with the following Project Update (August 31, 2010 Architect’s Report attached):

 

The first meeting of the FF&E was held on August 20, 2010 at 1 School Street.  (Minutes attached)

 

            Joe Sullivan - Daedalus Projects Inc.

 

Joe Sullivan reported to the Committee that the MSBA had visited the Middle School and was impressed at the work that had already been done.  Also discussed were the process of change orders and the Cori check – All workers at the site will be wearing badges.

 

On behalf of the Standing Building Committee, Chair Gladstone wishes to express to Joe Sullivan the Committee’s appreciation for all the work preparation at the site so that the back-to-school opening day would go smoothly.
